A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with One Step!

Today marks one year and one month since I started my Podcast. To celebrate, I launched my website! I'm very excited! I'm also excited what I will have achieved by this time next year. Obviously, I have not been super productive with creating content with my podcast in the past year because I haven't had time and I have only worked on it on the side. However, I'm proud of the journey so far. I shouldn't be too hard on myself. Instead, I should be proud of how far I've come. Now, let me tell you how I got the idea of starting this Podcast and how I came up with the name. Hopefully, this will encourage or motivate you to start the thing which you are passionate about.

First of all, I had always wanted to start a podcast, but I never thought I would be able to because I had no clue how to start one. Last year, as I was teaching a group of students, I wanted my students practice listening to my lessons at home. So I would record the lessons that I taught them each week and send them via WhatsApp as audio files. I wanted them to keep practicing throughout the week. It turned out that this was not a practical idea because it was not an easy way for my students to practice as the audio messages would get lost in chat messages and also the audio would stop playing after the phone screen turned off. I found another way. I started uploading them to Sound Cloud and would send them the link. This was great! But again! It didn't work out very well because there was a limit on how many minutes of audio I could upload or I had to pay for the premium version to increase the minutes. Well, it wasn't practical because I had to pay a monthly subscription I didn't want to. I had to come up with a way to upload my audio lesson online for free. Finally, I found a Podcast app which is free and you can start your own podcast! This was exciting because my podcasting dream had been realized. I had my own podcast!

How did I come up with the name, The English Zone? Or I should rather ask, where did I come up with the name? In the shower! Haha! That's not a joke. I'm serious. While I was taking a shower, I was thinking, what should I name my podcast! 'I wanna have a cool and creative name for the podcast. But more importantly, I want an easy name. Easy. EZ! English with Z! Nah. English Zone! EZ! Okay! That's it! EZ The English Zone.'

A journey of a thousand miles started, and I'm still in step one, but I can't wait to see where this journey will take me. I can't wait to see how many lives I'll be able to touch and how many language learners I'll be able to help. I want to go a thousand miles. I want to go more than a thousand miles. What about you?
