I’m your host Ziyad, and today’s episode is all about the dangers of relying on manifestation as a strategy for success—and how there’s a better way to approach your goals. Stay tuned for some deep insights that will not only change how you look at success but also help you grow personally and professionally!"
Okay okay hear me out!
We all have goals, right? Maybe it’s a promotion at work, mastering English fluency, or even starting your own business, or or or finding the right partner! A wife or a husband!
There’s a lot of content out there telling you to ‘manifest’ these goals.
It says if you think hard enough, if you visualize it, you will achieve it. But this is where that approach can lead you down a path of failure and sadness. —failure and sadness.
What happens when you set a goal? You put it in your mind, you visualize your success, and you feel that sense of excitement. You’ve built that expectation. You want to achieve it, and let’s be honest, maybe you will! But here’s where things get tricky… What happens next?
Well, naturally, you set another goal. And maybe you’ll crush that one, too.
But NOW, you have trained your mind to think that every goal you set, you will achieve.
And anything less than that? Well, that feels like failure. And failure often brings sadness, doesn’t it?"
The threshold!!!
It’s a natural human tendency. We all do it.
We think, ‘I succeeded before, so why not again?’ But that sets a threshold in our minds. That threshold is, ‘I must succeed at everything.’ And anything below that? It feels devastating.
Now, before you start feeling overwhelmed, here’s the good news:
What can we do instead of manifestation?
Here’s the alternative!
Instead of constantly tying your sense of worth or happiness to these future goals and their outcomes, you have to shift the perspective a little bit.
Set a goal and LET GO!
What if I told you that setting a goal is important, but letting go of the outcome is even more important? This is where true peace and joy come from, not from the results but from the journey."
This is what Islam teaches. You don’t have to be muslim to practice this, but this is something that’s taught in Islam…
Set a goal and LET GO!
Surrender to whatever outcome God has written for you.
Set a goal, and then… let go. Surrender to whatever outcome God has decreed for you. It’s about putting in the work, striving towards the goal, but not letting your happiness be tied to whether you reach it or not.
Not clear? Let me explain in more EASILY!
When you set a goal and you let go of the attachment to the outcome, what happens?
You’ve removed the weight of expectation.
You’ve freed yourself from the feeling of failure because now, you’re not defining success based solely on the result.
You’re embracing the process.
You’re allowing yourself to be open to whatever happens, knowing that you gave your best effort. YOU GAVE IT YOUR BEST!
That’s where real growth happens.
Even if you don’t achieve the goal that you set for yourself, YOU ALREADY WON!
This mindset is not just for spiritual growth; it’s for professional growth, too.
Imagine applying this principle to your English learning. You set a goal to improve your English—maybe it’s to have a fluent conversation or pass an English exam, to pass IELTS or TOEFL. You work hard towards it, but if you don’t hit that mark as quickly as you hoped,
don’t beat yourself up!
You’re on a journey, and every step you take is progress.
That’s where the joy should be—in the steps you’re taking, not just in reaching the destination."
Think about it in your career. Maybe you’re working towards a promotion or a new job. You’re doing everything you can—learning, growing, networking.
But the outcome may not be in your control.
YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS:
Do you let that stress you out?
Or do you find peace in knowing that you’re giving it your best and trust that what’s meant for you will come?"
"Now, I know this can be a difficult shift in mindset, especially in a world that constantly tells us to ‘manifest our dreams’ and push hard for our goals.
But here’s the truth:
We can’t control everything. And that’s okay. What we CAN control is
our effort (1)
our attitude(2)
and how we respond to the outcome.(3)
So, as we wrap up today, I want you to think about the goals you’ve set for yourself.
Whether it’s in your English learning journey, your career, or your personal life.
Are you attached to the outcome?
Are you feeling stressed or anxious because of that attachment?
If so, try this:
Set the goal
work hard
AND let go of the expectation that you must achieve it exactly the way you’ve imagined.
Trust that your hard work is enough and that whatever outcome comes your way is exactly what was meant for you. This shift will bring more peace, joy, and ultimately more success in the long run."
The journey is just as important as the destination, and sometimes, it’s even more important.
